I had the pleasure of visiting San Pantaleo during my “Scorci di Gallura” project, aon the road itinerary through north-eastern Sardinia, and I found it simply delicious.

HOW TO GET

The small, highly suggestive center of San Pantaleo is just 18 kilometers fromOlbia, 10 from Arzachena and 45 fromSaint Teresa of Gallura.

It can be reached by car (the best way to get around Sardinia) taking the SP 78 road that connects Arzachena to Olbia, through a winding route that directly overlooks the north-eastern coast of Sardinia and, in the central points, flanks picturesque peaks of granite.

San Pantaleo (Sardinia) is a small village characterized by lanes, low stone houses, well-kept windowsills, bars and chairs that give the impression of being part of another era. The sensation you feel as soon as you arrive inside is precisely that of having been catapulted into the past.

The little shops and ateliers that line the streets are perfectly integrated into the landscape and, indeed, represent it at its best. It was artists, craftsmen and painters, after all, who populated the village in the 70s and gave it this highly suggestive appearance.

Among the things absolutely to see in San Pantaleo, the Church stands out, located in the central square, whose interior is simple but captivating. The San Pantaleo market has now become one of the most beloved traditions of the small village as well as of the whole of Gallura, so much so that, in the list of the "best things to see in San Pantaleo", it appears in the very first places.

This is a market that is set up in the central square, right in front of the Church, every Thursday morning until 2pm (from 1st May to 15th October). The highly anticipated event gathers tourists, visitors and curious people from everywhere, so much so that it is always very crowded.

Inside the San Pantaleo market it is possible to find clothing, fashion accessories, local products such as cured meats, wines and cheeses, but also fruit and vegetables.

San Pantaleo is located in the heart of the north-eastern area of ​​Sardinia and is an excellent starting point to reach other locations in Gallura.
